Exhibition
The box office takings for this film was $963,420,425
I think that this film would be shown at the o2 Vue as it is a high budget filmwith a big production company behind it. I think that it would be shhown there as if you look at the box office takings you can clearly see that it is a film that was a big hit with audiences in cinemas around the world, therefore it should and would be put in the o2 vue. Another reason why i think it should be put in  the o2 vue is because it's previous films have all done well at the cinemas and with cinema audiences and so i feel it belongs in the o2 vue.
This film is available at home on Blue-ray, DVD and TV.

Horizontal And Vertical Intergration

Wednesday 7 March 2012

Keywords And Meanings

Production - The processes and methods employed to transform tangible inputs (raw materials or semi finished goods) and intangibles inputs (ideas, information, knowledge) into goods or services. It refers to the tasks that must be completed or executed during the filming or shooting.

Distribution - The third part of the film supply chain, is often referred to as 'the invisible art', a process known only to those within the industry, barely written about and almost imperceptible to everyone else. Distribution is about releasing and sustaining films in the market place. In the practise of Hollywood and other forms of industrial cinema, the phases of production, distribution and exhibition operate most effectively when 'vertically integrated', where the three stages are seen as part of the same larger process, under the control of one company.

Marketing - The marketing of a film revolves around two key questions: 'when?' and 'how?'

Marketing is defined by the AMA (American Marketing Association) as 'the activity, set of institutions and processes for creating, communicating, delivering and exchanging offerings that have value for customers, clients, partners and society at large.

Exhibition - The act of exhibiting for inspection or of holding forth to view; a public show, a display of works of art, a showing of film footage of some kind.

Audience - The group of spectators at a public event; listeners or viewers collectively, as in attendance at a theatre or concert. The listeners at a speech or performance or when listening and watching something.

Synergy - Simply when the sum of the profit of 2 products working together equals more than the sum of profit if they were standing alone (1+1= more than two). For example a computer game about a boy wizard or a film about a boy wizard will not do as well if they existed as separate products, compared to the Harry Potter computer game and film.

New technology - New media technology is any type of application meant to transfer information via digital techniques, computerised systems or data networks. First established in the 20th century, new media technology is most readily associated with information transfers meant to be manipulated in some way. Most forms of this technology are interactive and contain compressed data designed to be accessed in a variety of markets. The most prevalent examples of new media technologies include internet based concepts like websites or digital mediums such as CD-ROM's and DVD's. Anything that is considered old media, such as television, film or paper based products, are not part of new media.

Hardware - In information technology, hardware is the physical aspect of computers, telecommunications and other devices. The term arose as a way to distinguish the 'box' and the electronic   circuitry and components of a computer from the programme you put in it to make it do things. The programme came to be known as software.

Institution - An organisation, establishment, foundation, society, or devoted to the promotion of a particular cause or programme, especially one of a public, educational or charitable character.

A media conglomerate, media group or media institution is a company that owns large numbers of companies in various mass media such as television, radio, publishing, movies and the internet. Media conglomerates strive for policies that facilitate their control of the markets across the globe.

Digital - Digital describes electronic technology that generates, stores and processes data in terms of two states: positive and non-positive. Positive is expressed or represented by the number 1 and the non-positive by the number 0. Thus, data transmitted or stored with digital technology is expressed as a string of 0's and 1's. Each of these state digits is referred to as a bit _and a string of bits that a computer can address individually as a group is a byte).

Ownership - The state of being an owner; the right to own, exclusive right of possession and/ or the legal claim of the title. The proprietorship.

Convergence - Technological convergence is the tendency for different technology systems to evolve towards performing similar tasks. Convergence can refer to previously separate technologies such as voice (and telephony features), data (and productivity applications) and videos that now share resources and interact with each other synergistically.

The rise of digital communication in the late 20th century has made it possible for media organisations (or individuals) to deliver text, audio and material over the same weird, wirelesses or fibre optic connections. At the same time, it inspired some media organisations to explore multimedia delivery of information. Today we are surrounded by a multi-level convergent media world where all modes of communication and information are continually reforming to adapt to the enduring demands of technologies.

The use of different mediums, i.e comic books, publishing, TV and Film to create a world outside just the film which in turn helps advertising.
